Dear Friends, Warm Greetings!

The Community Partnership promotes people working together to strengthen the economic vitality of rural Southern Washington County by building on the area’s character and assets.  We have a history of empowering and bringing together a myriad of talents, leveraging resources and working collaboratively with public, private and non-profit sectors to further build a sustainable, vibrant rural community.

We invite you to join us. We need your financial support at this critical moment to continue with this mission.  With your help we will be able to continue to encourage sustainable neighborhood planning and facilitate downtown revitalization projects—by rehabilitating and celebrating historic community assets and expanding ‘home grown’ commercial and recreational opportunities for the region.

As the enclosed newsletter notes, the Community Partnership is at an inflection point.  We are on the cusp of:

  • bringing 3,000 square feet of newly revitalized prime commercial space online. The building at 9 West Main, underutilized and neglected for years, will soon be fully leased by three dynamic commercial tenants, including an innovative start-up.
  • shifting our focus to infrastructure improvements that unleash the broader commercial and recreational potential of the east side of the Owlkill Commons. Specifically, the Community Partnership is:
    • planning to conduct a feasibility study for a decentralized wastewater treatment system for interested properties near 9 West Main Street—conceptually building on the success and lessons learned with the Freight Yard system.
    • developing detailed plans to naturalize the stream near the historic Green Footbridge, create a 1.5-acre park for recreation celebrating the charming Owl Kill, and improving parking for local businesses and the Farmer’s Market (including the addition of an EV charging station).
  • thoughtfully stewarding the Delaware & Hudson Passenger Depot at 6 Broad Street into its next chapter.

What makes this moment critical for your donation?  We particularly need your support this year to complete 9 West Main Street.  We have been rehabilitating its three commercial units without the benefit of grant funds.  Monies from NY Forward grants are already earmarked primarily for future infrastructure projects benefiting the community.

How to donate?  Send a check by mail (see enclosed envelope) or pay by credit card via Pay Pal (see Donate button below  on our website).  Or consider a gift of appreciated stock. We are a 501(c) 3 organization so donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law.

Interested in learning more?  Please join us in celebrating the opening of 9 West Main on either on December 7th from 3:45 – 4:45 pm or on December 8th from 11:00 am-12:30 pm.

With your support, we will continue to unleash the vibrancy of the eastern part of the Owlkill Commons and advance the Village as a NY Forward community—where people work, live, play and connect!

Sincerely,

We work hard to secure the maximum amount of available grant monies and are grateful for the success we have had in doing so. Nevertheless, local community donations are critical and essential – and grant monies are often directly tied to the amount of local funding we can secure. 100% of donated funds become “working dollars”; we have zero overhead.
